The new season of bowling is well underway!

We have had some good games already in the Spring sunshine.

For the 2024 Season, new members can join our club without paying any membership fee (normally £95).

Register your interest now and come along next March to give us a try.

Our End of Season Awards Dinner was held on 8th November and was most enjoyable.

Hero’s Cup Doubles Competition Winners – Glenys Hanson and Vic Howell. Presented after the event as poor Glenys was not well enough to attend the presentation.

Our Indoor Curling Sessions start again at 1pm on Friday 6th October at the Mere Green Community Centre – still only £4 for 3 hours of fun.

This is a fun casual session – you don’t have to be a member of the bowls club and we welcome anyone – especially those who have not played indoor curling before.

The Friday B Team have had a good season here is a message from their Captain Vic Howell:

“As captain of the Friday Over 55s B Team this season for the first time since joining Mere Green last year I have to say that I am extremely proud of everyone who has been part of the team throughout the season in the Over 55s B Cup and Division 2.

We were defeated by Water Orton B in both the B Cup and in the final game in Division 2 which meant we were defeated by the eventual winners of the Cup and they also pipped us to promotion.

It goes without saying that every single player has done themselves, Mere Green club and myself as captain very proud. I think we have the makings of great things to come.”

The Captains Cup Singles competition took place in September and was well enjoyed by club members.

Many Congratulations to Colin Burton who beat Alan Oliver in the Final – A Great Win Colin!

A good win for Glenys Hanson and Baz Brazier today in the Doubles Cup final against Alan Oliver and Roy Hassell. A final of high quality despite the showers.

Our Mere Green player Kathryn Coulthard has won the 74th Sutton Coldfield Benevolent Competition held on 12th June.

28 Ladies from the East Birmingham League took part to raise money for the Air Ambulance. An excellent day was had.

The Crown Bowling season is well underway now and we have our first winners.

Congratulations to Glenys and Vic who have won the Hero’s Cup.

We have had record attendance numbers since November.

The curling sessions are now finished and will re-commence on 6th October 2023.

Our End of Season Awards Dinner was held on 9th November 2022 where our Club Secretary Chris Herbert presented the trophies:

Jenny Smith won the ‘Players Player’ Award

The bowling season has now ended but from October 7th Indoor Curling sessions will start.

These are fun casual sessions open to everyone. You don’t have to be a member of the bowls club and we welcome anyone – especially those who have not played indoor curling before.

Indoor Curling sessions take place at the Mere Green Community Centre every Friday from 1pm to 4pm.

Price is just £4 per session. Just come along and pay at the door.
